Deep Sea Terminals

Katoen Natie Port Operations operates 3 deep-sea terminals: 2 multi-purpose terminals in Antwerp (Belgium) and 1 container terminal in Montevideo (Uruguay – South America). At these terminals, we are able to handle several vessels simultaneously to meet the on time loading and off loading requirements of our customers.

Antwerp

Antwerp is truly at the economic center of Europe, with 180 million consumers within a radius of 500 km, representing the half of the European market with the most purchasing power. Katoen Natie Port Operations offers stevedoring services at the right bank and the left bank of the main river in Antwerp, The Scheldt. These multi-purpose terminals were built to accommodate up to 100,000 deadweight ton vessels with a 45' draft. Mobile cranes, gantry cranes and shore cranes with a duty cycle capability of max. 120 ton lifts enable us to load or discharge all cargoes at a very high speed.

Montevideo

Katoen Natie Port Operations operates a deep-sea container terminal on the river Plate at Montevideo, an important transshipment hub for the southern part of Latin America. Montevideo is the geographical center of Mercosur, with its sphere of influence including 200 million inhabitants with the highest per capita income in Latin America. It forms the gateway to the Paraguay-Paraná waterway and is one of the key points on the Buenos Aires - Sao Paulo route. Montevideo has rail and inland waterway connections with Brazil, Argentina and the landlocked countries of Paraguay and Bolivia.
